What's in a name?

po·ten·tial

adjective

having or showing the capacity to become or develop into something in the future.

noun

latent qualities or abilities that may be developed and lead to future success or usefulness

When I made the decision to start my own practice, one of my biggest hurdles was deciding on the name and to be honest True Potential wasn't even on the initial list. I had names that included local landmarks, features to the area and some that included my last name. They were good names but none of them really resonated with me enough to stand out.

Then I came across the word abundant. This word changed my entire thought process. Now I knew I didn't just want a catchy name, but a name that meant something, a name that speaks to you without having to see anything else. A name that represents what the practice strives to achieve.

true po·ten·tial

adjective

the bodies ability to function at its highest level; maximum output; full expression

Now the body needs only a few things to reach its true potential. These are the basic pillars to health: bodily systems functioning properly (e.g. nervous system, respiratory system, cardiovascular system, digestive system etc.), proper food/nutrition (our fuel, are you filling up on high octane rocket fuel, or low grade, contaminated fuel), proper physical and mental exercise, and rest.

What True Potential Chiropractic offers is specific chiropractic adjustments that relieve interference on the nervous system. Now that might seem like a very small portion of the above mentioned pillars to reach full potential but actually the nervous system controls all other systems of the body; every organ, every tissue and all 90 trillion cells in the body. So if the nervous system functions properly, the the rest of the body has the potential to function properly as well.

“The quality of healing is directly proportional to the functional capability of the central nervous system (i.e. the brain and spinal cord) to send and receive nerve messages.”

- The Journal of Neurological Science

For the other pillars of health, we have great resources and referrals so you can get exactly what you need.

We will always recommend the best, however we understand that not everyone is looking for the same thing. So we will serve you as best as we can to fit your needs. You may just be looking for relief of pain/symptoms and that is totally your prerogative. Regardless, our minimum goal is you walk out of the office functioning at a higher potential than when you walked in.

Check back for future blogs that will dig deeper into reaching true potential!

Yours in Health,

Dr. Alex
